  • Overview --What is ITGinsight

 

ITGInsight is a general science text visualization mining system, also known as a system for constructing and visualizing scientific research relationships. The relationships between publications, authors, assignees, countries, provinces, etc. can be completely disclosed by building collaborative, co-occurrence, coupling, association, citation, and evolution networks. Furthermore, ITGInsight provides various visualization maps for users to choose, such as network map, heat map, density map, world map, matrix map, evolution graph and clustering map. Its ease of use, comprehensive functionality and compatibility make ITGinsight accessible to users with academic or commercial motivation.

  • Data:

ITGInsight is accessible to data from SCI, CNKI, Wanfang, Derwent patents, US patents, Chinese patents, and European patents, while internet text such as Weibo and WeChat can also be processed. Besides, the software is capable to process large-scale data that can support up to 150,000 data analysis all at once at the cost of high computer configuration.

  • Visualization:

Changeable graphic styles: To enhance the visual effect of graphs and present them in an easy to interpret way, ITGInsight support users to modify not only node style, size and color, but also the condition of node annotation. In addition, similar to VOSviewer, the detail of a given item can be well explored by using zoom, scroll and search functionality.

Evolution graph and thermal map / topographic map / density map: Evolution graph is one of the most characteristic presentation modes in ITGInsight which can track the development of research topic over time. Thermal map / topographic map / density map can provide an overview of the main areas in a network quickly and clearly.

  • Auxiliary functions:
  • Excel data table: the software provides the option of outputting all the data statistical information into excel.
  • PPT visual output: graphics can be automatically printed on Microsoft Power Point.
  • Interacting with VosViewer, Pajek, Ucinet: the system provides data interfaces and usage interfaces with VosViewer, Pajek, Ucinet.
  • Automatic Reporting: for enterprise users, there is an automatic smart report that has summarized all the detailed analysis results by computer.

 

  • Techniques

 

Complex network layout algorithms: C# computer programming and the abstract class abstract layout are applied to specify the general function of the algorithm. Various layout modes are provided to optimize the graphic representation bibliometric networks.

Field mapping and data cleaning: data filter is used to mapping relationship between field information of external data sources and field information embedded in software, so that the system can extracts corresponding fields for data cleaning.

The software includes 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The 64-bit version of the general computer in 8G memory supports up to 70,000 data analysis, and the computer with 16G memory can support up to 150,000 data analysis. Particularly, for text cluster analysis, ordinary 8G memory computer can support 20,000 patents or papers clustering. When the computer configuration is upgraded, ITGInsight is capable to process more data clustering. A higher CPU is recommended to configure if users is desired to conduct large-scale data cleaning as the data cleaning process requires careful comparison of data. Generally, data cleaning is slower than data analysis.
